  8. Setting a S.M.A.R.T. Goal 1. I will (state your goal in SPECIFIC terms): Complete the Resolution 5K in 30 minutes or less and BEAT Mrs. Nielsen. 2. I will accomplish the above goal by taking the following steps - (list the ACTIONS you must carry out along the way) Running each week according to the “Couch to 5K Running Plan” 3. The goal will be achieved by January 5th(date/TIME) 4. My outcomes can be MEASURED by: (How will you know you accomplished the goal?) 1. I will complete my registration by December 5th. 2. I will show my registration to Mrs. Nielsen for confirmation. 3. I will keep a weekly record of my workouts and show them to Mrs. Nielsen the week of the race. 5. I know this is REALISTIC for me because: I can run/walk three times per week. I have run a 5K before. It will push me to do better than the last time (finished in 34 minutes)

  13. Comic Strip Assignment • You are going to be creating a masterpiece comic strip depicting an athlete as he or she is motivated by both intrinsic and extrinsic rewards. Use your storytelling skills to show how each of the two types of motivation affect the athlete. • Which of the two types of motivation will produce the most long-lasting effects? • SHOW what you know through the story you tell. • Your comic strip should have the following elements: • At least ten story frames • A storyline that shows the athlete clearly being motivated or NOT motivated by • Intrinsic motivation and • Extrinsic motivation • The athlete doing something to increase his or her intrinsic motivation • For bonus points, add one or more of the three myths of motivation into your storyline.
