Department and Course Structure We offer two parallel courses at AS and A Level : a) Art & Design (Unendorsed) b) Art & Design (Photography) The two courses share a common syllabus core and identical examination structure. Each level consists of 2 units AS Level Unit 1 : Coursework 60% Unit 2 : Externally Set Assignment 40% A Level Unit 3 : Practical Work and Personal Study 60% Unit 4 : Externally Set Assignment 40%

  4. Course Requirements Students need to produce work journals and final pieces for each unit. All units are individually assessed using a similar assessment grid as GCSE. There is a full length mock examination in January.

  7. TeachingFive teachers and the art technician contribute to the courses offering a range of skills and approaches.We also have an Artist in Residence who adds another creative input to the department. Courtyard Project

  8. Field days Visits to London galleries are an exciting way of researching artists. Tate Modern, Saatchi, V&A, British Museum, NPG, NG, and the Photographers Gallery are all popular venues.

  13. After A levels Apply to a Foundation Course. Art and Photography are accepted as third subjects by 90% of universities and the subjects can be studied further in their own right – Fine Art, Photography courses, Media studies, Film studies, TV production... Many occupations require creative thinkers....be distinctive!

  14. Who should apply? Students who are passionate about the arts! Motivated individuals who can work independently and make good use of our excellent facilities! Independent thinkers who take the initiative and visit current exhibitions in their spare time!
