  1. Welcome to art Time to Imagine, create, become.

  2. Rules • Be Safe • Respectful • Responsible

  3. Safe means? • Use art materials correctly. • No more than 4 students at each table. • Stay seated unless you have permission to stand. • Keep your hands to yourself.

  4. Respectful means? • Be silent and listen while other people are talking during a classroom discussion. • Raise your hand if you want to talk while other people are talking during a classroom discussion. If you are called on or receive the talking ball you can then talk. • Be friendly and no drama!

  5. Be Responsible means? • Always try your best, do not rush a project because good art takes time and you should take pride in your work. • Don’t make a mess and clean up your areas at the end of class. • Put your artwork and materials away in your tables box. • If you have a job do it well.

  6. Jobs board • Near the entrance of the room we have a jobs board. Take a card if you want to choose a job. These jobs have special responsibilities and privileges. At the beginning of each period students can choose a job, if a job is not chosen I will assign the job. • The jobs are table cleaner, sink duty, retriever, assistant teacher and pottery wheel helper.

  7. Table cleaner • Table cleaner are responsible for passing sponges out to each table and helping to clean the tables and the areas around them. Every student cleans their own messes but the table cleaner is the extra help to make sure really big messes get clean. During clean up they can go to and from the sink and place the table box on the classroom shelf.

  8. Sink duty • The sink duty students clean and organize the sink, brushes, cups, sponges and other art materials in the sink area. This job is very important.

  9. Retriever • The retriever passes out, collects and organizes the materials and drops off materials to the sink that need to be washed. The retriever can get out of their seats anytime to get materials for themselves and others.

  10. Assistant teacher • The assistant teacher is a job that is not always given out and is usually a student that is knowledgeable and completed with the current project. Assistant teacher’s job is to help students with projects, retrieve materials for them, help me with requested tasks, allow one student to gather their own materials and assist in distributing awards. The assistant teacher can walk around the room at will and give one student permission to get out of their seat for a valid reason such as going to the bathroom, washing hands…

  11. Pottery wheel helper • The pottery wheel helper is a 6th grade student who is knowledgeable in using the pottery wheel and will aid students who need help starting their pottery and cleaning up the pottery wheel. This job is awarded only by Mr. Forish. Once a student shows exceptional ability I will ask them to be pottery helper if they want to, this job will only rotate through a select few that do the job well.

  12. Sketch book time • For the first 8-10 minutes of each class while the retrievers are passing out materials students will draw in their sketch books. I have paper and how to draw books at the inspiration station. When you enter you can grab some paper and or a how to draw book. Then you must immediately sit and draw.
