Welcome to Art Grade 9 Mr. Hobbs
Welcome Back Everyone! • During this term, we will: • Work on improving and building on techniques learned from last year. • Create art projects and assignments, both independently and collaboratively. • Apply critical thinking and problem solving strategies to your own work, as well as others. • Demonstrate an awareness for the value of art and culture.
What I Expect from you • Now I know we went over this last year, but there are some new things to keep in mind this year: • There are to be no cell phones in class whatsoever. I don’t care if you need to txt your bestie, if I see it, you will be asked to leave it on my desk until the end of the day. • Keep your bags, hats, purses, lipstick, poodles and coats in your locker....especially poodles, they scare me. • During instructional or tutorial time, please make sure you are listening and not talking about how awesome your new zombie iphone app is.
Expectations Continued... • Make sure you come prepared to class with a pencil and eraser. • Treat others and their property with respect. • Always clean up after yourself...especially glitter. You know how much I HATE glitter!! • Be supportive of others and their ideas • All assignments must be turned in by the due date. • I don’t expect you to be Picasso, but I do expect you to try your best and attempt all projects!
Other Things To Remember • Homeroom bins: inbox and outbox. • You are responsible to pick up a sketchbook for next class. Your old one from last year is acceptable. • No final projects are to be left in your sketchbook. They should be put in your portfolio.
What Will We Be Doing This Term? • Clay Pottery • MaskMaking • 3D Pop Art • Metal Repousse (if time permits) These projects will be subject to change. I will keep you posted....
