Project Monitoring Guidelines • One Site visit by Asha Volunteer every 24 months (rural + City) • One site visit by reliable source every 12 months for City • Asha project template every 3 years • One call between steward and partner every 6 months (documented in project page) • Funds utilization report must be obtained before next disbursal • At least 6 months’ notice for any disruption of funds • For new project, chapter-partner call must • FCRA requirements (Mandated) and no project specific fundraising before obtaining one-time or permanent FCRA • Receipt required within 1 months of sending funds. • Asha Volunteer & Steward Manual

Viklang Vidyalaya Objective : - Provide basic education to disabled kids - Provide a positive environment for their all-round development - Create awareness in the community for treating the physically challenged children with compassion and dignity Organization : R M T Sarvodaya (Resi.) Viklang Vikas Sansthan ( established 1993) Location : Dumra, Sitamarhi District ,BIHAR Funding Status : 2008 - $2100 (Approved.) Recently the Project received the FCRA clearance in 2012.   4. Viklang Vidyalaya • Update based on Conference call with project sponsor on March 9th 2012, • Infrastructure : • One room is an office and the other two rooms are for kids. They have a kitchen where they cook for the 40 residential students ( age 5-15) along with two resident volunteers. Two new rooms have recently been constructed. • Education Techniques • Basic literacy and primary. They follow Conventional teaching till primary school with special techniques for various disabilities. Plans are underway to provide vocational training to the students • Support from Other Organizations • - Personal funds • - Community support in terms of food • Govt. provides books and stationary • Requested amount from Asha for 2012 -2013

Bhagvatula Charitable Trust-BCTVishakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh India • Mission • Transform 100 villages in 3 mandals of Visakhapatnam District, Andhra Pradesh into model villages. • Train the youth to ensure gainful employment. • Improve health and literacy of the local population • Develop local leadership to enable participation in local governance. • Recently BCT has started a vocational training and production center for handicapped students with great success (refer site visit report 2012) • Asha & BCT • Established a Tailoring & Dress Making center (with the support of Asha Toledo and Rotary Club of Toledo (courtesy of Asha Toledo)) for vocational training of teenaged girls. • Site visit performed by Sri. Radhaswamy Kidambi in January 2011 and May 2012. • Many success stories from the center. Refer to site visit reports on website.

  6. BCT-Action Items • Previous budget requirement was for ~$3000 (Rs. 1, 44,000) to support salary of two teachers for the tailoring institute. • Last installment sent in March 2011 for $1600 • Email communication for new budget ongoing. Awaiting request from BCT • Action Items • Need Asha’s project proposal template to forward to BCT as previous proposal is 3 yrs old • Awaiting project report from BCT for 2011-2012 for tailoring center • Project partner is generally available by email and phone at all times. Call with project partner can be arranged within a week’s notice.

  7. Gram Vikas Trust – GVTBharuch and Narmada districts, Gujarat, India • Background- Agriculture based rural communities  low literacy rates, high drop out rates from school • GVT runs various projects supported by multiple Asha chapters. • Balwadi project – Pre-primary education centers • Bicycle project – provide bicycles to girls to enable them to travel to neighboring villages to attend school minimize school drop rate (~200 girls) • Sikshana teacher training program – improve quality of education in govt. schools to enable children to compete with private schools (~ 15 schools, 2330 kids) • In 2011 Asha Atlanta sent $1000 towards bicycle project for 20 girls

GVT – Action Items • Site visit done in Feb 2011 • Frequent email communication with project partner Mr. RameshKasondra (see email Q&A report on website) • Bicycle Project • Continue support for 20 girls for bicycle project Rs. 67,000($1200) • Provide support for Sikshana Phase II program for one school (Vibha supported Phase I) • Budget per school ~Rs. 60100 ($1100) • Total budget proposed for 2012 for GVT $2300

Nishtha Night ShelterBaruipur, West Bengal • Project runs a shelter to house children of sex workers from neighboring brothels • Shelter houses ~32 children of sex workers since 2006 • Asha Support for Nishtha • Since 2006 Asha has been sending funds to run the night shelter. Annual budget Rs.2,95,500 or ~$5500 • Asha supported SAC program to provide college education for two girls. 3 yr budget Rs.136400 or ~ $2600 • After-school tuition support for children of shelter requested this year. Annual budget Rs.107600 or ~2030 (will most likely be supported by AID Washington DC)

  10. Nishtha – Action Items • Site visit done by Anuradha in December 2012 • Funds sent in 2012 $1150 (shelter + SAC) • No funds sent for April 2012 – March 2013 (Requirement $5K) • Project partner Ms. Mina Das easily available by phone and email

Trinita Society for Health and Social ResearchKolkata, West Bengal, • Background: Improve health, education & nutrition of marginalized women, street children and child laborers. • Currently has centers in districts of Cooch Behar, 24 ParganasSouth, Hooghly and multiple centers in and around Kolkata.  • Provides vocational training for women and children and after-school coaching support for underprivileged children. • Currently supports 519 male students and 692 female students. • Asha & Trinita: Since 2007 Asha Atlanta and Asha Univ of Florida support funds for • After-school coaching support for 125 children in 5 centers in Kolkata. • Staff salaries, food, books, stationary, medicines • Asha Atlanta SAC supports college education of 5 girls for 2 yrs

  12. Trinita – Action Items • Trinita nominated for WAH campaign 2012 from Asha Atlanta • Budget for 2012 Rs. 3,95,150 or ~$8000 • New budget includes continuation of 5 Asha supported centers + one time support for • hardware training for 2 staff members • coaching center teacher salaries in Hooghly • books for rural community reading center • maintenance costs for above two centers • Currently looking to transfer • one installment of $ (if sufficient funds are raised through WAH, chapter will be compensated) • SAC for 5 girls college education $2700
