The Town of Norlina is situated on land which, was a part of a grant to John Langford for his service in the Revolutionary War. A former US Dept of Defense Hospital Car, built for the US Army in 1945, now serves as the Railroad Museum.

Ticket and Cash Care The passenger train conductor carried redeemed tickets or stubs, as well as cash in a locked case. This case is a very early one, dating to the 1860s or 1870s.
Railroad Conductor’s Cap The cap is a well known symbol of the passenger train conductor. The North American style conductor’s cap was a variation on the military “Kepi”.
Uniform Coat The uniform buttons were usually customized for individual railroads. A number of pockets were likely used for storing items used by the owner- ticket stock, a punch, schedule, money, and so forth.
