  2. Rotations • A rotation occurs when a figure is rotated around a point. (usually the origin) • Another name for a rotation is a TURN

  3. 90° Clockwise Rotations • In a rotation clockwise of 90° about the origin, the point (x, y) becomes (y, -x) • Rotating 90° clockwise is the same thing as rotating 270° counter clockwise.

  4. 180° Clockwise Rotations • In a rotation clockwise of 180° about the origin, the point (x, y) becomes (-x, -y) • Rotating 180° clockwise is the same thing as rotating 180° counter clockwise.

  5. 270° Clockwise Rotations • In a rotation clockwise of 270° about the origin, the point (x, y) becomes (-y, x) • Rotating 270° clockwise is the same thing as rotating 90° counter clockwise.

  6. Rotational Symmetry • Is when a figure is rotated a certain # of degrees and still looks the same. • Angle of Rotation: # of degrees the figure can be rotated and look the same.
