Educational Services’ Vision “Learning for Life”, the vision is: To enable everyone in West Dunbartonshire to become • Successful learners • Confident individuals • Responsible citizens • Effective contributors Now and throughout their future lives. To achieve this vision, the department is committed to: Create and deliver courses, activities and events which will motivate and excite learners; Develop innovative ways to support learning; Value diversity, promote equal opportunities and foster inclusion; Promote partnership and community participation; Value achievement and celebrate success; Continually reflect on and aim to improve the quality of our services. Curriculum for Excellence • Equip young people with the skills they need for tomorrow’s workforce • Make sure that assessment and certification support learning • Allow more choices and chances to meet the needs of individual young people • To enable young people to flourish in life and work beyond school.

Skills for Learning, Skills for Life, Skills for Work • Working in partnership affords young people a broad range of opportunities and scope for greater personalisation and choice, with benefits for both the young person and the partner organisation. • Working with each other, and with other partners such as parents, employers, public bodies and voluntary organisations, can help schools and other learning providers to make the most of their contribution and recognise their part in promoting lifelong learning.   15. Revised work experience programme WDC unit developed for programme, personalised programme for young people based on next steps. The benefits of the new Employability Skills Programme are: More flexibility Better timing – avoiding exam/prelim times The quality of the experience Better suited to individual pupils’ needs Strong links to Curriculum for Excellence Building the curriculm4 - providing more personalisation and choice Improved partnership working within the employment sector working in partnership with the Skillseekers to improve employer engagement and pupil support within the workplace. Employability skills Pupils can gain Employability Skills via: • The Employability Skills programme • Participation in Vocational Programmes • PSHE classes • Information/workshops provided by Careers Scotland • Employment e.g. part time jobs • SQA units such as Enterprise and Employability at Access 3, Int 1 and Int 2 level • Work shadowing • voluntary sector • university tasters
