Habitat The Ostrich lives in the savanna and grasslands in Central and South Africa.
Adaptation # 1 The Ostrich is the world’s fastest bird on land. The species’ long legs enable it to run quickly through the grasslands where it lives , reaching speeds of up to 40 miles per hour. This helps them survive because they can run away quickly from their predators.
Adaptation # 2 The ostrich species stay together so they don’t get lost and so they don’t become prey.
Extra information The ostrich is a common animal. They live in grazing groups of 5-50 individuals. Females lay their eggs in holes scraped into the ground. These eggs can be up to 5 inches long, 6 inches wide and reach up to 30 pounds making them the largest eggs in nature.
