  4. Size The ostrich is 175 275 meters tall their tails are nearly 1metre long

  5. Appearance • The ostrich has a long neck and powerful legs it can run very fast at speeds of up to 44 miles per hour the male has soft curling feathers the females are brown in colour with white wings and the young are a grey brown colour

  6. food • The ostrich mainly eats grasses seeds leaves and flowers occasionally the may eat small reptiles

  7. Interesting fact • The egg is the largest laid by any bird and is the equivalent to 40 hens eggs

  8. THREATS • In the 18th century ostrich • Feathers were so popular in ladies fashion that the ostrich disappeared from all of northern Africa if not for ostrich farming which began in 1838 the ostrich would probably be extinct today ostriches are farmed for feathers skin meat and eggs
