2. About Vidiyal Vidiyal is a Tamil word meaning “dawn”. The project is based in Chetpet a small town about 100 Kms S-W of Chennai. The project provides tuition to children who have dropped out of school due to the fact that they are employed during the daytime. Typically the children are in the age group of 5-15 and are employed in tea stalls, granite quarries, brick kilns or as agricultural laborers. The aim is to provide basic education and practical skills for these children. The school timings are the evening between 5.00 PM and 9.00 PM during the weekdays and all through the day on the week end, throughout the academic year teaching about 10 children.
