Your presentations in CSSE 477 CSSE 477Software Architecture Week 9, Day 4
During week 10 Your team will be giving 2 presentations: • A report on your term paper (3 per hour) • A report on the six little projects you did (3 per hour)
How come so many? • Software architecture is half technical and half social • The software architect has to sell their ideas to different audiences, like: • Customers and product managers • Developers and testers • Almost all software designers have to present solutions to a group • The best way to get good at a practical skill like this is - to practice!
Or, drawing on The Far Side: “Look what Zog do!”
Architects do this a lot… • Learning from someone else’s experience • Goal for the listeners is to apply it to something they are going to do, like: • Trying to go to product lines is tricky! and takes time, or • Yes, you can Open Source the development of an operating system
How about the week 10 talks? • The talk on your research paper is also a common thing for designers to do. • Often, it explores a new technology or design method you’re considering using • I often did these in industry, on new ideas we might try in products • The talk wrapping-up your project is a retrospective. • It’s like a case study on your own stuff!
