  1. Article: Altparts.com The Different Shears Used For Tube Cutting Tube fabricators implement various methods for tube cutting in varying lengths ranging from short pieces to mill lengths. No single method can effectively cut through varied materials and shapes as per the industry requirements. So, one needs to use different kinds of shear blades associated with different methods with some of the options being:  Sawing & Rotary cutting  Lathe cutting  Shear supported cutting  Laser cutting  Shear dual-blade cutting In general, the machinery requirement related to tube cutting depends upon the scenario. This includes production rates, cut-part end condition requirements, and supply of stock material as coiled stock and random lengths. Also important is need for outside procurement and fabrication skills or in-house tubing production. One of the most popular and effective techniques related to tube cutting is use of saws. This versatile methods offer unique capabilities with every sawing application. Still, this method is suitable only in case of low-volume productions. Band Saws and Cold Saws are the commonest tools in use. The importance of cold sawing almost equals to milling and turning processes. Positive rake shearing helps in metal removal and besides the standard tooth-shaped blade various other types are also in use. On thick-walled varieties, specialized bevels are present for breaking the chip. Cold sawing technology lends itself to successful adoption to varying machines with production capabilities of varying levels too. Lathe cutting machines are also common in use with one being the standard lathe and another rotary lathe. However, these are only for round tubes and used to cut heavy-walled, high-strength components like canisters for air bags and bearing liners. It is possible to use these for exotic materials as different alloys and titanium in various components like automotive axles. Amada laser and similar products from other world standard brands are used in different cutting and welding operations. Laser technology was first introduced in 1960s and since then their use has been constantly growing. It is operated by power sources generating electromagnetic radiation beams. These beams have specific wavelengths in phase, parallel, and uniform with each other. Laser system widely used in different industry scenarios is suspended neodymium in Garnet Yttrium Aluminum Crystals and carbon dioxide. One can cut tubing complex parts using laser devices especially in processes requiring successive multiple procedures. This involves sawing, milling, deburring, and punching.

  2. Complete processing becomes possible through use of laser cutting in single operations that use single machines and single tools. It is possible to eliminate secondary successive operations. There can be many advantages to Fanuc Laser use:  Ideal for all shapes of tubes  Small-batch production suitability  Complex part suitability  Provides good cut quality  Eliminates certain secondary operations saving time Today there have been high advancements in use of various cutting technology and availability of state of the art devices have improved the matters further. So consider your tube cutting requirement and make your choice.
