Past Simple • Similar with simple present tense, simple past tense is a tense that expresses actions taking place once, never, several times, one after another or in the middle of another action. However, the action must happen in the past.
Past Continuous • Past continuous tense is a tense about the action that happened in the past as well. It is used when action go on at a certain time in the past, take place at the same time and is interrupted by another action.
Past Perfect • Past perfect tense is a tense that shows action taking place before a certain time in the pastand puts emphasis only on the fact rather than the duration.
Past Perfect Continuous • Past perfect continuous tense is almost the same as the past perfect tense, but it puts emphasis on the duration or courseof an action.
