  2. Mission To promote growth in the economic base of the weather and climate enterprise by outreach to user communities.

  3. History Prior to the formation of the Commission, the BEED was the AMS Economic Development Committee, which reported to the AMS Executive Committee.

Major Activities - 2007 • The BEED organizes the following major activities: • * Corporate Forum • * Users Forum • The Board also supports activities of its two committees • ITS/ST Committee • * National Surface Transportation Weather Symposium • * Joint meeting with the Intelligent Transportation Society of America’s Weather Information & Applications Special Interest Group • * Short Course on Surface Transportation Weather • * Organized road weather session in IIPS • Energy Committee • * Assisted NCDC with two national telecons on climate normals • * Organized energy session for Sixth Users Forum

  8. BEED Website A new BEED website was developed in 2007. It will soon be integrated into the AMS website

Corporate Forum Brings together several key members of the community, government agencies, and policy makers, to discuss ongoing programs, new initiatives, business opportunities, and policy issues. The primary goal of the Forum is to identify business opportunities. To increase the participation in the Forum, the name of the Forum was changed in 2007 to the Public-Private Partnership Forum Next PPP Forum: 22-23 April 2008 University of CA Washington Ctr.

Speakers asked to focus on industry needs for weather and climate information, recent successes and failures in the use of products, and other aspects of products and services as they relate to the end user and decision maker.
