Codes of Warfare • What is the earliest evidence of attempts to set rules for armed conflict? • Have a look at Sample codes of warfare • Possible Questions: • What rules do you see in more than one code? • Do any of the codes give explanations for their rules? What are the explanations? • Do you see any rules in the codes that are like ones that you proposed? • Compare these codes with the basic rules of humanitarian law. • Find 5 common themes among the codes.
