University of Essex requirements • Staff – Managed by Personnel • Students – Managed by the Academic Section Students need CRB checks: • When required for work placement/research
What is the CRB application process? • Completion of a CRB Application form • Provide ID documents in person • Form signed by a CRB Countersignatory • Disclosure certificate received from CRB • Escalated to Department/School/Centre, Academic Registrar & Lead Countersignatory if necessary
Changes to the Student CRB process • Academic Section responsible from 01/2008 • Operated a decentralised process • From 08/2008 commenced implementation of a centralised process • Online CRB application • ID checks by Systems Administration Office • Rollout during 2009
CRB Implementation Plan • 08-09/2008: New checks for MSc Health & Human Sciences students students • 10-11/2008: New & re-checks for Biological Sciences students • 01/2009 onwards: All other Departments/Schools/Centres (new and re-checks) as checks occur
