Social deprivation modifies also the summer mortality –temperature relationship. Figure 2 There is a potential combined effect modification of social deprivation and chronic exposure to NO2 in the mortality-temperature relationship. Conclusion – Perspectives Our results may have important implications considering chronically polluted areas as vulnerable in heat actions plans (especially including adapted surveillance and warning systems) and in the long-term measures to reduce the burden of heat stress (as building regulations, urban planning or land-use changes), especially in the context of climate change. However, it is necessary to determine whether a consistent finding could be found in other settings.
