DCS Solutions:Don JacksonChen Kiat Yong Sarah Doyle Constructed Wetland Design at Sipaulovi Village
Objective • To design a wastewater collection and treatment facility for the village of Sipaulovi, which meets the regulations provided by Indian Health Service. This system must be able to incorporate the existing sewers, and create a central sewer system for the village, which will be easily incorporated into any new development within the village.

Introduction • Problems with current system • Future growth – population may double • Odors from existing facility • No central sewer system
Proposed site Sipaulovi Village
What Does The Client Want? • Prefers constructed wetland design • Wants to reuse effluent for non-edible crops (gourds, livestock fodder, etc…) • Trees • Would like to attract birds and other wildlife
The Ideal Design: • Cost effective • Low maintenance • Treatment • Bar screen • Flow meter • Flow equalization/settling tank • AIWPS • Effluent disposal • Constructed wetland • No discharge
Plans for the Future: • Site survey • Research – permits & effluent re-use • Alternative designs • Is a CW feasible? • I.H.S. approval • Estimate cost of construction
