Agreeing a common baseline: what’s needed and next steps January 15, 2014
IDOs • AAS will contribute most strongly to six IDOs, and it is against these that our performance should be judged. • These six IDOs are at two levels: (i) material development outcomes that will result from AAS interventions and the work of our partners; and (ii) instrumental development outcomes that will enable these material outcomes.
Material IDOs • Increased and more equitable incomefrom agricultural and natural resource management and environmental services earned by low income value chain actors in aquatic agricultural systems • Improved dietquality of low income households in aquatic agricultural systems, especially by nutritionally vulnerable women and children
Instrumental IDOs • Improved productivity in aquatic agricultural systems (water and total factor productivity) • Increased control of assets, inputs, decision-makingand benefits by women and other marginalized groups in aquatic agricultural systems • Increased capacity to innovate within low income and vulnerable rural communities in aquatic agricultural systems allowing them to seize new opportunities to improve livelihoods and increase household income • Increased capacity to adaptto environmental and economic variability, shocks and longer term changes in low income communities in aquatic agricultural systems
On Thursday 3 October theme leaders agreed on next steps to develop a common baseline for AAS focal communities in hubs.
