What is ADDIE? • ADDIE (acronym for Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation) is an Instructional Systems Design (ISD) best defined as a general process or guidelines used by instructional designers, trainers, and instructors to develop and create effective courses.
Analysis Phase The ADDIE analysis phase serves a major role in the quality assurance process. It defines the project's needs and ways to measure its success. If you skip the ADDIE analysis phase, you can easily introduce mistaken assumptions into the project.
Design Phrase • Design is the systematic method of research, planning, developing, evaluating and managing an instructional process. All of the individual components are incorporated into the method termed instructional design.
Development Phrase • The development phase is the process of authoring and producing the materials needed to meet the objectives • During the development phase, all audio, video, and text materials are collected, prepared, or created. Documentation is prepared and the product is ready to be tested
Implementation Phrase • Implementation is the presentation of the learning experiences to the participants utilizing the appropriate media • Leaning, skills or understanding, are "demonstrated" to the participants, who practice initially in a "safe" setting and then in the targeted workspace
EVALUATION PHRASE • This phase consists of (1) formative and (2) summative evaluation. Formative evaluation is present in each stage of the ADDIE process. Summative evaluation consists of tests designed for criterion-related referenced items and providing opportunities for feedback from the users. Revisions are made as necessary.
Overview • The ADDIE model is a generic and simplified instructional systems design (ISD) model. ADDIE is short for Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate.
