    1. Journal Entry Make a short list of the times that you or someone you know truly felt fear. If you do not know any real examples, make some up. (Be serious) Rank them in order. (1=most fear) Write about number one: What caused it. How it felt. How it could have been avoided.

Now, write a journal entry about your number one gift Why is it the best give ever? Who gave it to you and why? How did it make you feel at the time? Do you still have it? Is it still important? Has it become even more important, or has its importance faded with time?

Think about the musical components: melody, tempo, volume, etc If this music were a soundtrack to a movie or a video, what would be happening? Are there repetitions, stressed sounds, variety? Now, write a journal entry about the number one thing you would do. Tell it like a story and consider: Why would you do it? Who else would be involved? Would you do it right away or would you wait awhile? Where would it take place? Why? Provide as much detail as you can.

    11. The Trench Digger An elderly couple retired to the countryside to a small isolated cottage overlooking some rugged and rocky heathland. One early morning, the woman saw from her window a young man dressed in working clothes walking on the heath about a hundred yards away. He was carrying a spade and a small case and he disappeared from view behind a copse of trees. The woman thought no more about it but around the same time the next day she saw the man again, carrying his spade and a small case, and again he disappeared behind the copse. The woman mentioned this to her husband who said he was probably a farmer or gamekeeper setting traps, or performing some other country practice that would be perfectly normal, and so not to worry.

However, after several more sightings of the young man with the spade over the next two weeks, the woman persuaded her husband to take a stroll - early, before the man tended to arrive - to the copse of trees to investigate what he was doing. There they found a surprisingly long and deep trench, rough and uneven at one end, becoming much neater and tidier towards the other end. "How strange," the old lady said, "Why dig a trench here...and in such difficult rocky ground?" and her husband agreed. Just then the young man appeared earlier than his usual time. "You're early," said the old woman, making light of their obvious curiosity, "We wondered what you were doing and we also wondered what was in the case." "I'm digging a trench," said the man who continued, realizing a bigger explanation was appropriate. "I'm actually learning how to dig a good trench because the job I'm being interviewed for later today says that experience is essential, so I'm getting the experience. And the case...it's got my lunch in it." He got the job.

    16. Journal Entry #14 Journal Entry - Create a list in your journal of the most remarkable things that have ever happened to you . Narrow the list to your top three things Write a journal entry about one of the things, using details and descriptive language. Write about the other two things for your weekend journal entries (Sat. and Sun.)

Consider the following: His or her appearance (clothing, body type, adornments, hair, What kind of a person is he or she? Subject to change? Steadfast in their opinion? Open to others? Intensely private? Next, create a minor character to provide contrast to your major character. Consider the above ideas as well as: How are they different? Is their difference a problem for the main character or is it helpful in some way? Avoid entering into too much plot. Focus on character development!

Provide background that supports the conflict Introduce the conflict through narration and/or dialogue. Try to further develop the conflict by providing complications for the character(s)

Journal Entry Journal Entry – Write a short narrative in first person with two characters (You and another person) In your narrative you will be telling the other character about your ten things you believe in. Don’t list your items. Instead, let the items come out in a natural conversation Use some narration (prose writing) and some dialogue Remember to indent each new paragraph Remember to start a new paragraph every time a new person is speaking

Take the time to actually write down what you believe you value most in life.  Then take a good hard look at what you have in your life currently.  Do you live according to those values or have you been living according to somebody else's values and beliefs? Are there areas you can improve?

You must convince the boss why you are the person he or she should hire
