  2. ArcGIS Server • Like ArcIMS, and older IMS technology, ArcGIS Server is a means for broadcasting geographic information to be consumed by various types of clients

  6. Limitations of map services • Display / Rendering • Lack of selections, buffering, tables, etc… • Performance constrained by bandwidth • Server side • Data locking • Security / Authorization
