Employment and Training Solutions • Funded by MTCU, Employment Ontario to deliver employment services to the unemployed • 9 full service delivery providers across Niagara Region
Employment and Training Solutions • Includes 5 main areas: • Client Service Planning Coordination • Resource and Information Centres • Job Search • Job Matching, Placement and Incentives • Job Retention • Other Employment programs • EI status does not determine eligibility for any component of service
Client Service Planning Coordination (CSPC) • CSPC ensures that individuals will have access to the services they need to achieve career and employment goals • CSPC integrated into all ES components...evolving process...needs do not always reveal themselves at the beginning...emerges throughout the process
Resource and Information Centre (Unassisted Services) • Available to everyone: employed, unemployed, underemployed, job seekers, students, employers • Offers the information and resources necessary to support ones job search and human resource needs • Offers computers, fax machine, phone, information on training, resume writing, job board, etc.
Job Search (Assisted Services) • Targeted for unemployed, out of school and legally entitled to work in Canada • Job Search: • Individual assistance in establishing an occupational goal, development of a service plan with steps required to meet their training/employment goals and conduct their own job search • Assistance in looking at training options and applying for Second Career funding • Assessments to determine areas of strength, interests, aptitudes
Job Matching, Placement and Incentives (Assisted Service) • Matching unemployed clients with suitable employers • For individuals who may have barriers to employment • Offering financial incentive to employers to help offset costs of training • Providing mentoring and coaching support during and after the placement
Ontario Self-Employment Benefit Program • 3 providers in Niagara • 42 week support for those who wish to start their own business • Must be EI attached • Currently on EI • On regular EI claim within last 36 months • On parental/maternity benefits within last 60 months
