Mission Statement In order to prepare our children to be productive and responsible citizens, the Mission of the Little Egg Harbor Township School District is to create and maintain a collaborative learning environment which fosters individual abilities and encourages all children to achieve their highest potential with the expectation that all students will meet the grade level benchmarks set forth in the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards (NJCCCS).
Budget Overview • Contracted raises for 11-12 = $681,000 • Anticipated health insurance increases with current plan $612,000 (down from 1.2 million after staff agreed to change health plans) • Budget short fall of $1.3 – $1.7 million • How we will make up the $1.3 – $1.7 million • Reduce Professional Staff by 10 positions • Don’t replace 3 retirees = approx. $250,000 • Eliminate 1 administrator = approx. $100,000 • Eliminate 6 special area teachers = approx. $460,000 • Reduce grade level sections in gr. 1 – 6 by 3 to 4 sections total = approx. $222,000 • Utilize $300,000 Federal Job Relief we saved from this year (we were advised not to spend it in current year)
Budget Breakdown 2011-2012 • Total Budget: $28,171,473, down $206,791 (.73%) from the 2010-2011 budget • Amount allocated from fund balance to support this budget: $262,560 (direct taxpayer relief). This money comes from revenue received for our NJ Clean Energy Grant • LEH lost $1,092,134 in general fund state aid for 2010-2011 • LEH received only $218,689 of that back for 2011-2012 • Since last year our net loss in general fund state aid is $873,445 • Administrative Per Pupil Cost is $1,196 down from $1,214 in 2010-2011 (This amount is below the regional limit of $1,768 imposed by the state) • Proposed per pupil cost: $12,531 down from $12,744 in 2010-2011 • Per the State spending formula, the Little Egg Harbor School District budget is $2,580,832 below adequacy

Debt Service Aid 2011-2012 • The district did receive $706,981 in debt service aid. • However the district was promised $831,742 for this year as per the agreement when the debt was incurred. • This 15% decrease of $124, 761 can only be made up through a tax levy outside of the general fund tax levy.

Future Vision What happens if the budget is defeated? • The Budget is reviewed by County Executive Superintendent/County Executive School Business Administrator • The Township Committee makes recommendations on how much to cut from budget • Adequacy and 2% Budget Cap • County Executive Superintendent/County Executive School Business Administrator to direct district cuts
What items could be cut? • Full-Day Regular Education Kindergarten • Co-Curricular Programs: writing, drama, and homework club • After School Athletic Programs: basketball, volleyball, fitness, etc. • After School Buses • Courtesy Bussing of Students • Special Area Teachers (already reduced by 1) • Literacy Resource Specialists • Inclusion Facilitator, Basic Skills Teacher (already reduced by 1)and Behavioral Specialist • Time-out classroom • Non-tenured teaching staff members (already reduced) • Gifted and Talented Teacher • Reduction in School Nursing staff • Redesign of Child Study Team (School-based to district) • Elementary Supervisor and Lead Teachers • All paraprofessionals (aides) except where required by Special Education I.E.P.s and preschool mandates • Capital Improvements • Technology Specialists, Facilities Staff, Secretarial/Clerical Staff, Administrative Positions (all already reduced)
