Used Unforgettable Epigrams • An epigram is a brief, interesting, usually memorable and sometimes surprising or satirical statement. • "For what is a man profited if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? “(Matt. 16:26) • "And whoever exalts himself will be abased, and he who humbles himself will be exalted” (Matt. 23:12) • "No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God“ (Lk. 9:62)
Used thought-provoking paradoxes • A paradox is: “A statement that is seemingly contradictory or opposed to common sense and yet is perhaps true” (Webster) • An example: Beatitudes (Matt. 5:1-16)
Vivid Hyperbole • Hyperbole is an “extravagant exaggeration” • Examples: • “If your right eye…hand (Matt. 5:29-30) • “…hate not your father (Lk. 14:26)
Humor • Plank (Matt. 7:1-5)
Parable • Used in OT (2 Sam. 12:1-7; Isa. 5:1-7) • But Jesus made themfamous • Interesting and challenging • Allows man to discover truth for himself (Matt. 13:10-17)
Forms of Logical Argument • Deduction (Matt. 22:23-33) • Reductio and absurdum (Matt. 12:22-30) • Logical dilemma (Jno. 8:1-11) • Argument a fortiori (Matt. 7:11)

Conclusion • There are many men who have something to say, but can’t say it so people will listen. • All of us can do better if we follow the example of Jesus.
