OPEN DAYS 2010: slogan and themes “Objective 2020: Competitiveness, co-operation and cohesion for all regions” Competitiveness: Innovation, regional development and green economic growth, achievements under the “Regional Competitiveness and Employment Objective” Cooperation: Territorial and cross-border co-operation, the European Grouping on Territorial Cooperation (EGTC), and macro-regional cooperation Cohesion: to what extent is convergence occurring?; what is territorial cohesion?; social cohesion; integrated approach for policies relevant at the local level. 1 2 3
Lessons learned from OPEN DAYS 2009 Quality of the event: better than ever due to reduction of number of speakers; lively debates and focused events; networking oriented events work best! Event organisation: only slight changes as compared to previous years; reduction to not more than 100 seminars. Recommendations: focus on key themes; continue University, develop ‘Meeting Place’; enhance online communication; maintain highly individualised media programme

OPEN DAYS 2010: The Meeting Place Where? At the Committee of the Regions, JDE and VMA building Who? Companies, banks, regions, cities, European associations, and all OPEN DAYS participants What? Seminars, exhibitions (Tuesday 5 October “Green Village”; Wednesday 6 October “Territorial Cooperation”) networking, TV Studio, Media Centre, Café, VIP rooms. How? Partnerregions and citiesexpress their interest by 22 February on form A. Major private companies apply with form B by 19 March. Opportunity to showcase one or more projects co-financed by the Structural Funds
OPEN DAYS 2010: The Meeting Place Using form (A), partner regions and cities can apply until 22 February for the Meeting Place exhibition with concrete project proposals for either the ‘Green Village’ or ‘Territorial Cooperation’ and mention if they work already with a major private company. After 22 February, we inform the companies, banks and associations about the proposals to check possible synergies. Using form (B), companies, banks and associations can apply until 19 March for the Meeting Place exhibition (‘Green Village’ or ‘Territorial cooperation’) and workshop. A more structured ‘networking workshop' is intended to be organised

OPEN DAYS 2010: The media programme Regional and other partners to nominate journalists by 28 May and prepare individualised programmes. Briefings on regional policy by country will be prepared by DG REGIO. Organisers can reimburse travel and accomodation expenses for a limited number of journalists.
