Presentation Overview Catholic University uses the PeopleSoft Enterprise Portal to deliver custom, third- party and PeopleSoft applications to the end user community. This presentation highlights our experience in delivering this service.

Overview • Located in Washington, DC • Founded in 1887 • 6000 Students • 1500 Faculty and Staff • Undergrad, Grad and Doctoral programs • 12 Schools including Law School • Research – Tier II
Technology Environment • PeopleSoft systems • SA/HRMS v8.0 SP1, Financials v8.4, EPM v8.8 • Enterprise Portal v8.8 • Oracle and MS SQL Server databases • Dell and Sun Microsystems servers • Windows and Solaris operating systems • ASP, Cold Fusion, WebLogic and PeopleTools • Cisco Content Server Switches (CSS)
Goals • One stop for all administrative systems • Minimize individual user accounts • Provide role based content • Centralized communication mechanism • Tie into campus central directory

Key Considerations • Integrating a diverse set of products • Secure connections, data and access • Providing unique user authentication • Establishing specific methods for passing authentication tokens • Validating the source of authentication tokens • Making these methods reusable
Application Connectivity • PeopleSoft • Single Sign-on connectivity between platforms • Validation of user in Enterprise Portal only • Successful for SA/HRMS, EPM, Financials • Non-PeopleSoft Products • Use iScript to provide an authentication token of EMPLID via hidden URL parameter
Cardinal Students • Student Administration System (SR, FA, SA, AD) • Full site within Enterprise Portal • Available to Applicants, Faculty, Students, Staff and Alumni • Provide consolidated navigation in an organized manner • Role-based security controlling the availability of Homepage tabs, CREFs and Pagelets • Contains navigation to other SA/HRMS integrated third-party products
Enterprise Performance Management • Store legacy Student Administration system data • Versioning difference issues: • Secure to un-secure site messages • Drill down connectivity • Consistent connectivity • Create direct CREFs to specific components
MyHousing • Third party residential self-service system • iScript functionality is used to create a single signon environment • Additional HTTP referrer validation is done • Access is available only to students who can participate in the lotteries or dining plans
Degree Audit System • Custom built system tracking degree progress • Developed using ASP • iScript functionality is used • Additional HTTP referrer validation is done • Access is available only to active students
Judicial Affairs Management • Administrates and tracks student infractions • Custom-built using ColdFusion • Integrated with Enterprise Portal, Student System, and Housing Director • Authentication by iScript functionality • Additional HTTP referrer validation is done • Access is available only to authorized users
