Arctic fox. fACTS. The Arctic fox can weigh 6-10 pounds. It can be 25-30 centimetres high. It is white in winter and brownish-grey in summer. It lives farther north then any other fox. It can be found everywhere in the Arctic and in outer edges of Russia, Greenland, Alaska and Svalbard.

  2. fACTS • The Arctic fox can weigh 6-10 pounds. • It can be 25-30 centimetres high. • It is white in winter and brownish-grey in summer. • It lives farther north then any other fox. • It can be found everywhere in the Arctic and in outer edges of Russia, Greenland, Alaska and Svalbard. • It can also be found in Subarctic and alpine areas like Iceland and Scandinavia.   3. HABITAT & habitat description The ‘white’ form prefers treeless plains. The ‘blue’ form prefers coastal an shrubby habitats. The arctic fox lives farther north than any other fox. It can be found everywhere in the Arctic and in outer edges of Russia, Greenland, Alaska and Svalbard. It can also be found in Subarctic and alpine areas like Iceland and Scandinavia.   4. adaptation The Arctic fox blends in with the grass It has thick fur; so it won’t freeze in the snow. It has a good supply of body fat; also not to freeze in the snow. It has really good hearing so it can hear the prey even under the snow. It has furry paws which allows it to walk on ice when searching for food.   5. DIET Arctic fox eating an egg The Arctic fox is the main predator in the Arctic. It’s feeding on any small mammal it can find; lemmings, hares, owls, eggs and carrion. Lemmings are the most common of it’s preys. It also feeds on fish under the ice. In summer it sometimes eats invertabrates.
