  2. Plot (definition) • Plot is the organized pattern or sequence of events that make up a story.

  4. 1. Exposition • Exposition includes an introduction to: • Characters: protagonist and possibly antagonist • Setting: Time and place of a story • Conflict: The problem in the story

  5. Protagonist • The main character in a story is called the protagonist. She or he is always involved in the main conflict and its resolution.

  6. Antagonist • The person opposing the protagonist is called theantagonist.

  7. 2. Rising Action • Rising Action: the series of conflicts and crisis in the story

  8. 3. Climax • Climax: • Turning point of story • Protagonist faces conflict • Protagonist will change in some way.

  9. 4. Falling Action • End of the central conflict.

  10. 5. Resolution • The story comes to a reasonable ending.

  11. To the tune of “Airplane” by B.O.B. • Chorus: • You know we got the characters, the setting, and of course the plot. • It’s the elements of fiction now, fiction now, fiction now. • (Repeat)

  12. Verse 1: Yeah, in a story you’ll have a protagonist, He can’t be replaced. He can’t be dismissed In most works of fiction – the main one, the good one. He’s in conflict, in a jam, with a bad one And all the pandemonium and all the madness Belongs to this guy – the antagonist. He’s the one who wants to attack, But we’re rootin’ for the protagonist chap. And as we read, the story unfolds, To reveal the setting – sometimes untold. It is the time and also the place Like the future or up in outer space. So setting, setting – we know is place, And don’t forget the time, you know it’s mate. Protagonist/Antagonist like to fight. It all is so simple. It’s black and white. Repeat Chorus.
