Rising Action • Series of events that take place to build suspense • Sometimes called complications • Authors often give us clues—foreshadowing
Climax • The story’s highest point • Character changes • Conflict is decided on one way or another • Suspense stops building
Falling Action • Story settles down • No more chaos • Quiet events
Resolution or Denouement • Final part of the story • Everything is tied up • It is a Band-Aid—all of the ouches are cured
