  3. What is plot? • Plot is the story itself! • All stories have a plot. Think of your favorite book, movie, or video game; what is the story?

  4. The Plot Development Chart Exposition

  5. Exposition • Exposition is the introduction to the story. • Introduces the problem and main characters (protagonist/antagonist). Every story has a problem; without it, there is no point to the story!

  6. The Plot Development Chart Rising Action Exposition

  7. Rising Action • Events that build action/suspense. • Lead to the most exciting/intense part of the story.

  8. The Plot Development Chart Climax Rising Action Exposition

  9. Climax • The most exciting part of a story. • All of the rising action has lead to this moment of the story. • NOT THE MIDDLE OF THE STORY • Usually closer to the end of the story

  10. The Plot Development Chart Climax Falling Action Rising Action Exposition

  11. Falling Action • Events that occur after the climax. • Leads to the end of the story.

  12. The Plot Development Chart Climax Falling Action Rising Action Resolution Exposition

  13. Resolution • Brings the story to a close. • All conflicts in the story are resolved; there may be a larger problem to be resolved in the next book/movie of the series.
