  2. Where did the waltz come from? • It originated in France after the revolution • It was danced in England in 1812 • The years from 1750-1900 were known age the “Age of the Waltz”

  4. It is danced with a partner. • The partners stay close to each other. • The dancers use small steps. • There are many sliding turns. • It is written in ¾ time.

  5. The most famous composer of the waltz came from the country of Austria. His name was Johann Strauss, Jr. He wrote his first waltz when he was only six years old. Altogether he wrote about 170 waltzes. His most famous waltz is called “The Blue Danube”.
