  1. Status of preparations for PPRP meeting 12May03 • MICE-UK asked (03Apr03) for full documentation (following PPRP guidelines) for consideration at the 12May03 meeting – deadline 28Apr03 • Cost to completion • Spend profile • Document in preparation. Key points: • Two stage process: • Approval for preparatory phase in fy 2003/04 without implying approval of full MICE project • Seek approval of full MICE project and UK contributions • Implies 2003/04 presented as request, profile 2004/07(08) presented as estimate • Work packages: • Beam and infrastructure • Focus pair and absorber integration • Instrumentation • Software

  2. Report from MICE project teams • Staff issues at RAL (from Paul Drumm): • cryogenic/hydrogen & RF expertise lacking • opportunity to recruit & train over next year? • Helpful to clarify possible sources of funding for 2003/04 and resources potentially available • News on preparation of MICE hall beam-line area: • PD proposed schedule for preparation work over next year to ISIS. ISIS have agreed. (Schedule on next slide) • Important step: JMPB should take a view! • For: Spread work out: reduce effort required in 04 shutdown or later shutdowns Strong message to non-UK funding agencies • Against: Loss of particles to HEP-test-beam area until beam line installed and re-commissioned • Personal view: arguments for strongly outweigh those against.I believe the work should start.
