  1. Project status and preparations for the EU review WP4 workshop, 13/12/2002 Olof Bärring

  2. R1.1 R1.1 Jan What happened? R1.2 Mar R1.3 May R1.4 Jul R2.0 Sep R3 Project status • Remember the glorious plans from last year? R1.2 Experiments request stable testbed! First acceptable version of R1.2 R1.2.1 Fixes for Globus R1.3 (Dec) Serious MDS problems R1.4 (Dec)

  3. EDG project policy • At the EDG technical board meeting in July it was decided to focus the project on • Stable testbed for application groups (WP8,9,10) • Quality assurance (software, release/integration procedures) • EDG retreat in end of August • Quality assurance group (QAG) resurrected … (it didn’t really exist before but the intention had been there since long) • Focus the WP mgrs meeting on discussing/resolving(?) technical issues • Despite all EDG efforts spent on improving the stability and quality: Globus showstoppers have prevented an acceptable release up to now. • GASS-cache • Long GridFTP transfers • Slow MDS queries. • ….

  4. 2nd EU review • Date fixed: 4th – 5th of February 2003 • Exceptionally early: EU has accepted to shorten the reviewed period from PM13 – PM24 to PM13 – PM23 • Agenda: • Normal political stuff + technical status reports from Bob&co • Demonstrations: • Application WPs: three demos using the 1.4.x release from December 2002 • Middleware WP: parallel demos (2x3) of their newest stuff • Each demo: total 30’ including presentation and questions

  5. WP4 demo for the EU review • Show something that hangs together • New configuration system: too early. We only have the high level ready and it doesn’t make sense to show the reviewers that we are able to generate XML files… • LCFG: we are going to phase it out… • New installation system: not ready • Monitoring: OK but it would be nice to show it working together with another WP4 subsystem… • Fault tolerance + Monitoring: yes but a lot of preparation is required
