Infotech Corporate Overview • Infotech LLC • Often recognized for our large scale regional and statewide mapping projects • Currently the selected contractor for the Los Angeles Region Imagery Acquisition Consortium (LARIAC). SoCAL Geospatial Modernization Program
SoCAL Geospatial Modernization Program • My Goals • Convey not Convince • Facilitate a sharing of ideas • Discover any consensus • Identify and document common barriers for a regional geospatial data program SoCAL Geospatial Modernization Program
SoCAL Geospatial Modernization Program • CONCEPT • “A technical and management solution to provide consistent high resolution orthophotography and digital terrain layer to be acquired for all counties in Southern California in 2007/2008 through the collaborative participation of commercial, local government, State and Federal agencies“ SoCAL Geospatial Modernization Program
SoCAL Geospatial Modernization Program • PURPOSE • To promote data collaboration, planning, and regular maintenance of the California geospatial data infrastructure within southern California. • To provide easy access to consistent and high quality geospatial data to anyone who needs it. SoCAL Geospatial Modernization Program
SoCAL Geospatial Modernization Program • Where did this concept come from? • You and your local user groups. • LARIAC Project • Our statewide project experience. SoCAL Geospatial Modernization Program
Geospatial Modernization Program • PROBLEM: • Program Management and Delivery of imagery and geospatial products is time consuming and resource intensive task for us. Significant efforts are required by personnel for project management, quality assurance and distribution. “We just don’t have the people to do this” • Time of delivery is always an issue. In a consortium model it is difficult to get everyone to agree on what a “reasonable” delivery time is. • Budgets are not in the same cycle. “No one seems to be able to afford it.” SoCAL Geospatial Modernization Program
Geospatial Modernization Program • SOLUTION: • “Implement a turnkey approach to manage these key issues and shift this burden from a single government agency to a working group model while insuring the highest level of quality and on time delivery.” • SoCAL Geospatial Modernization Program SoCAL Geospatial Modernization Program

SoCAL Geospatial Modernization Program • SoCAL GMP • Project Discussion SoCAL Geospatial Modernization Program
Geospatial Modernization Project Discussion • Project Assumptions • First generation orthophotography • Pixel resolution of 3”to 4” for urban areas • Urban areas acquired at 1”=100’ map scale • Rural areas acquired at 1”=400/1500’ map scale • Pixel resolution of 1’to 3’ for rural areas SoCAL Geospatial Modernization Program
Geospatial Modernization Project Discussion • Project Assumptions • Digital aerial capture with LiDAR • Five to seven counties • New survey • New DTM/DSM/Contours • Project life of 11-12 months or less • Delivery time of 6-8 months or less The Geospatial Experts
Geospatial Modernization Project Discussion • Technical Requirements • One survey team per County (5-7 teams) • Estimate 5-7 planes for urban acquisition • Approximate an additional 2-3 planes for rural acquisition • Estimate a minimum of 5 production centers • Two QA/QC and delivery centers SoCAL Geospatial Modernization Program
Geospatial Modernization Project Discussion • Management Requirements • Need a champion on the regional level • Minimum - Buy in on the County level for each County • Commitment to the SGMP concept • Vendor that you choose should have a complete “phased” solution to addressing the needs of the project community. SoCAL Geospatial Modernization Program
