  4. TEACHING AND LEARNING Feedback from students to teachers www ebi • What went well…. positive comment • Even better if…. how to make progress • Focus on learning • Not criticism of teacher • Constructive, positive, sharing best practice

  5. STUDENT FEEDBACK TO TEACHERS • Simple, straightforward sheet • Small groups (no more than 3) • Teacher explains that it is about how students are learning • What works well for the students • What else would help them to learn • A great way of sharing best practice

  6. DISCUSSION POINTS • Why should students comment on teaching and learning? • How does feedback to teachers help share practice across the school? • How does this promote students’ wellbeing?

  7. STUDENT COUNCIL • Elected representatives • Every year group (secondary) • Regular meetings with Deputy Headteacher, Pastoral Director and College Leaders • Agenda and minutes by students

  8. ACTION • Students raise concerns • Students suggest solutions • Action at Senior Leadership level • Examples: canteen, facilities, library

  9. DISCUSSION POINTS • What are the advantages of having a Student Council? • How does this help promote students’ wellbeing?

  10. COLLEGE LEADERS AND PREFECTS • College Leaders (secondary) • Selection process, leadership qualities • Senior Prefects • Prefects

  11. RESPONSIBILITY Students take responsibility for aspects of day to day running of the College: • Break duties • Library • Buddies for younger students • Guided tours of college for visitors • Speak at events

  12. DISCUSSION POINTS • How does this help the wellbeing of all students? • How does it motivate younger students? • How does taking responsibility help with university entry and future employment?
