Additional Credits (OSS) • Three additional credits - one from each of the following lists: Group 1: Additional credit in English, or French or a Native language or an international language, or Social Sciences and the Humanities or Canadian and World Studies, or Guidance and Career Education, or Cooperative Education Group 2: Additional credit in Health and Physical Education, or the Arts, or Business Studies, or Cooperative Education, or French as a second language Group 3: Additional credit in Science(11 or 12), or Technological Education, or Computer Studies, or Co-operative Education, or French as a second language • Plus 12 elective credits • Plus successful completion of the Grade 10 Literacy Test • Plus 40 hours of Community Service

Choosing the Appropriate Level ACADEMIC COURSES • theory based program • academically demanding and rigorous curriculum • strong reading & writing skills required • should be an independent learner with effective work habits • minimum of 65% in prerequisite course recommended • leads to university, university/college courses in grades 11 and 12
Choosing the Appropriate Level APPLIED COURSES • hands on approach to courses • opportunities for practical experiences • smaller class sizes • at least 1 hour of homework each night • leads to college and workplace courses in grades 11 and 12
Choosing the Appropriate Level ESSENTIAL COURSES • generally recommended by Core Resource or Subject teachers for students with specific learning needs • essential concepts of a subject are taught • greater teacher direction and instruction provided to accommodate learning needs; smaller class sizes • leads to workplace courses in grades 11 and 12

Summer School • Remedial (repeat) summer school credits offered for compulsory subjects in grade 9 • You may take remedial summer school if your mark is between 35%-49% in grade 9 compulsory courses • If your mark is below 35% the compulsory course must be repeated in first semester of grade 10 • Limited offerings of Full Credit Courses in summer school for Grade 10 Careers/Civics is popular
