Fresh water regions • Lakes • Rivers • Streams
Marine regions • Oceans • Estuaries • Coral reefs
Biotic and Abiotic factors • Biotic • The are many biotic factors in the aquatic biome. Some may be various types of fish, coral, sponges, plankton, etc… • Abiotic • There are also many abiotic factors, such as rocks, sand, water, temperature, etc…
producers • kelp • Seaweed • Phytoplankton • Coral reefs
How plants In the ocean are adapted • Plants in an aquatic enviorment have many adeptaions, such as living with very little sunlight, and living with no carbon dioxide.
consumers • Large fish • Small fish • Crabs
Food chains in the aquatic environment • Orcas often eat cod and cod eat bivalves, especially mussels and cockles. In turn, the bivalves feed on tiny zooplankton that they filter out of the water. These zooplankton eat even tinier plants: the diatoms and other phytoplankton. Thus the diatoms are the producers and the zooplankton, bivalves, cod and orca are all consumers.
More food chains • Large fish eat smaller fish, smaller fish eat tiny fish, and tiny fish eat producers. • There are many more food chains in the aquatic environment.
