Background • NC State Publications Clearinghouse • DIMP – Digital Information Management Program • Depository Library Meeting & Depository System Advisory Committee in 2008 • East Carolina University, the State Library of North Carolina, and the University Library at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

  3. Scope • Beginning in 2009, a total of 360,000 pages (approximately 1,440 volumes) will be digitized over the course of three years from the collections of all partners libraries. • Broad sampling of state publications • Emphasis on 19th and early 20th centuries

  5. Education component to the grant • ECU’s Teacher Resources Center will lead a workshop for master teachers in 2011 • Develop educational activities for classrooms

  6. Research guides • Native Americans • African Americans • Transportation • Health Care

  7. Biennial reports of the State’s prison • 1919 – 1963/64 • Types of offenses • Occupation and education level tabulated by race and age • Many years also reported on diseases, tests performed and surgeries • Reports from the 20's and 30's contain neat stuff about farming and crops as well as inventories of machinery, equipment, and livestock • 1930/32 contains the historical development of the state prison system going back to 1816
