Strategic Plan • Establish a voluntary communications committee • Collect data about current communications methods • Develop district-wide expectations and protocols which insure effective communications and a means to evaluate new communication methods as they are deployed • Define the primary points of contact, hierarchy of communication, mechanisms and tools for effective communication • Implement new communications protocols with full and appropriate professional development in support of the established norms of communication • Evaluate communication plan at regularly scheduled meetings of the communications committee.

Achievements • Web Site - new format and design, with relevant, timely stories and information that have made the site user-friendly and a resource that parents, staff and community rely on for information • Media Relations - improved media relations have increased media coverage for district and individual school activities and achievements as well as enabled teachers and staff to be called upon for expert commentary on various educational issues. All this leads to increased credibility for our schools • Crisis Communication - Plan in place, with coordinated effort helping to minimize bad press both internally and externally as well as keeping all stakeholders informed • Communications Committee - Increased staff accessibility for stakeholders; led to information sharing among school-related volunteer groups; reduced duplication of PTO fundraising efforts, events and publications; monitored and enhanced district communications efforts • Community Bulletin Board – Connects non-school related organizations to our schools without traditional paper flyers
