WATER • Must have H2O to survive • Dissolves more chemicals than any other substance on Earth • 92% of blood is water • Organisms will survive only a few days without H2O
LIVING SPACE • All organisms need a place to live, obtain food and H2O, and find shelter • Space on Earth is limited so organisms must compete
STABLE INTERNAL CONDITIONS • Organisms must keep conditions inside their body stable despite environmental changes
