NURSE PRACTICE ACT • 1443.5 STANDARDS OF COMPETENCE • (6) Acts as the client’s advocate . . . by initiating action to improve health care or to change decisions or activities which are against the interests or wishes of the client, and by giving the client the opportunity to make informed decisions about health care before it is provided.

  12. IWC CONTINUED • Time and 1/2 for any missed break or lunch • The longest workday can not exceed 16 hours • 10 and 12 hour days approved with a 2/3 vote of the staff on the unit • Any staff member not wishing to work the extended hours must be accommodated
