Man’s Other Best Friend; The HorseHannah StonefieldSeptember 30, 2003
Horses have given man the ride of his life. They have carried men all over the world, into battle and into the show ring and more. Horses have always been there and will continue to. Even if we put them out to pasture, they will always be ready to be your loyal companion.
“Look back at our struggle for freedom, trace our present day’s strength to its source; And you’ll find man’s pathway to glory is strewn with the bones of a horse.” -Anonymous
“He will be brought over for a brief parade under silks on the course which once knew the thunder of his galloping hoofs.” -New York Times, 1931
“Beyond jumping, hauling, conveying, racing, or any other work, the horse teaches. Sometimes it’s confidence; other times, humility. Or respect. Honesty, Fairness. A lesson in overcoming this penchant we have for impatience or in defeating fear--of falling, of failing, or even of loving something frail as a horse or any other creature.”-Michael J. Rosen
“God forbid that I should go to any heaven in which there are no horses.” -R.B. Cunningham Graham
