Hello my name is Patrick McKeen. I’m here to take you on a trip to colonial times. So let’s go!
No Nintendo, TV, and not many books to read. They played rolling the hoop and other games.
Did they have dentists, doctors, firemen, jails, police, etc.?
They did not have firemen nor many doctors. But they did have gaols (jail spelled the colonial way. They are pronounced the same way.)
Children did not play as much as we do. But when they played they had as much fun. They also worked a lot.

What we learned about colonial tools at Colonial Day • They used chisels and they didn’t have safety glasses. • They first made log cabins with chisels and hammers. • They used a sickle. • It was harder for them to build than us.

What did they do? • Traveled to visit family and play parlor games, pantomimes and spooks.
What did they eat ? • They had turkey stuffing and pudding.
How did they dress? • They wore their fanciest clothing.
What are some decorations they had ? They had carved figures of Mary and Joseph the shepherd, and the wise man and the stable where Jesus was born. Also they had a Christmas tree.
