    1. Margaret River SHS 2011 Ski Trip Information Night for Parents and Students.

We have a group of 44 3 teachers and 4 adults Mr Darby, Mr McKillop, Mr Beecham David Swainston (Travel Guide) Robyn McKillop, Rosie Burnett and Geoff Uhd 36 high school students Can be seen on website with rooming 1 pre-high school student Liam We see our trip very much as family/community oriented.

    3. Ski Clothing : What is Provided Ski pants Ski Jacket Boots Skis or Board Wrist guards for boarding

    4. Ski Clothing: What is Needed 3 pairs of thick warm socks, reasonably long. (Explorer, StockPile – CRT Rural) Sunglasses – UV (Victoria Markets $15) Ski Gloves – thinsulite (VM - $40) Beanie Layers of clothing – T Shirt, Polo Neck, Windcheater or light jumper

    5. Skiing - Optional Clothing Scarf, balaclava, neck tube or head band Cap – they do blow off easily- great for sunny days. Ski goggles – most useful when snowing Helmets – available for hire ($40) or bring your own – required for terrain park. Thermal underwear –often too hot, but useful for those who feel the cold.

    6. General Clothing Comments A pair of water proof boots or shoes (eg Rossi or Rivers) for walking in slush. Don’t buy a jacket since you can use the ski jacket while on the snow fields. Warm casual clothing is needed for Melbourne. Sunscreen is essential, lip balm

    7. Arrival at Airport Meet Mr Darby and Mr McKillop at Domestic Airport at 10:00am. Qantas Check In area. Luggage, 1 case, maximum of 20kg. Make sure it is clearly labelled. 1 small hand luggage. Once Mr Darby has marked you off, you will be directed to a holding area to await group book in. Once you have your ticket move off to the waiting area and stay with your adult supervisor. A light meal will be provided on the plane.

    8. Ski 2011 Itinerary The most up to date copy of this can be downloaded from our website. If you cannot do this, please take a copy from the back of the room.

    9. Rooming Arrangements Rooming arrangements have been made and hopefully you looked at them. If you would like to change these, see us tomorrow with an agreed change. In Melbourne we have mainly 2’s and 3’s At Cedarwood we have mainly 4’s and 6’s.

    10. Behaviour Expectations Follow instructions. Be on time, never late. Stay in groups, never alone. When coming down to breakfast in the hotels, please don’t wear pyjamas. You must wear shoes. Consequences lose independence, will have to stay with adults. Sleep on floor in appropriate staff members room. Serious breaches could result in student’s being sent home at parent’s expense.

    11. Safety Issues Students must attend lessons, they teach you about the mountain, where you can go safely. How to avoid injuries. Students must ski in groups of 3 or 4 at all times. Obey ski patrol instructions and ski within your limits. In case of an accident on the mountain, the ski patrol will attend to you and take you down to the medical centre. They will contact Mr Darby, Mr McKillop or Cedarwood. Must not leave the mountain until allowed to do so by their allocated staff member.

    12. Spending Money 11 meals @ $15 = $165 Movies @ $20 Ski Gear General spending money, gifts etc Shopping ?? Ensure you have your student ID

    13. Cameras and Web page In past years we have created a web page to keep parents up to date with what is happening on the trip. You can also download documents that you may need. To achieve this we find it useful if: We have email addresses that parents actually check. Could students who bring digital cameras also bring a USB cable to connect the camera to Mr Darby’s laptop.

    14. Electronic Media Students must ensure that all digital media are used appropriately (Including phones, cameras and laptops). No images of other students or supervisors are to be taken or used without their permission. All digital media are to be switched off at times determined by the supervisors.

    15. What Information Do We Need Tonight? Medical Details – are they correct? How many think they will get air sick, bus sick? Organise travel sickness tablets. Student Code of Behaviour form. Ski information - known Dietary requirements - known
