NGATS Institute Public Access • At least 1 public meeting per year required by the OTA • Current planning is targeting March 28 here in Washington • Shared location with ATCA • 1330 – 1730 • Increased interest to hold additional public meetings outside Washington • Public meeting will focus on: • Brief overview of NGATS and JPDO • Institute mission & private sector participation • JPDO and Government partnership • Response to questions from public • Notification: • Broad area announcements • NCAT/NGATS Institute website • Other media and access sites (via IMC organizations) • Other public access and communications • Current web site has been upgraded and improved • Web portal (planned expansion) • Newsletters to communities of interest • Email communications for individual participants

  3. Contracts Studies, Etc. (Tasks) • JPDO requests and funds support to be executed by NGATS Institute • There are two initial tasks now being reviewed by Institute • Study for back-up SAT NAV technology • Additional support for concept of operations development • At least four more in the “pipeline” within JPDO • Notice of contract – request for bids to be posted on Institute website • Back up SAT NAV may be ready to post next week • Concept of Operations may be ready by 1 March if not sooner • Notices have gone out for nominees for initial Source Selection team • Contractual Awards Oversight Board –subset of IMC • Four by name identified, three confirmed; fifth person requested • Goal is to expedite award and start work very soon after receipt

NGATS Institute Summary of Activities • All Eight IPT’s have been provided their first round of industry members as of 01/2006: • 184 participants as of 1/31/06 • Second round placement now in process (could add 15 to 30 additional participants) • Positive feedback from IPT Directors on private sector skills, insight and expertise • Over 70 private sector companies, organizations and NGOs represented • Increasing participation and involvement by several communities of interest • Helicopter operators • Academia • NASAO • IMC Public Affairs and Communications group to work with JPDO Communications Director

NGATS Institute Summary of Activities • Emerging Requirements and Requests: • NGATS total system cost assessment by private sector sought (in collaboration with JPDO) • Strategic Concept of Operations being developed • FY 08 applied technology and operational demonstrations being identified by JPDO via IPTs • Early Opportunities in FY 07- 08 are being explored: • Gulf of Mexico – Helicopter Association International (HAI) has recommended that new off-shore CNS to be NGATS-based for oil platforms/production flight ops • Universities/academia along with HAI and Association of Aero Medical Services (AAMS) championing on behalf of for First Responders and EMS operators, early application of NGATS capabilities for local and state integrated disaster response system (air and ground asset management, C&C, etc.) • Aviation Domain Awareness (ADA) concept being examined by DOD for consideration as an element of the Shared Situation Awareness IPT
