Releasable Boat Anchor A standard style boat anchor with hooks which can be released from the boat.
Mechanism • Cable Release was investigated but had too many variables • Mechanism released by sliding weight where user drops from boat • Translates even the slightest inertial force of the weight to release the lock
Design • Tested in water with minimal release mechanism force required while at only slight inclination. • Strong Components and Overall Strength • Simple - Easy to Operate, Assemble, and Disassemble • Low Cost
Limitations • Design is not full-proof, it’s a luxury • There are too many variables • In most cases the current design will work
Future Work • Use of fixed joints or locked members? • Release Mechanism Guard - Most Likely Release Mechanism Inside the Shaft • Non-Corrosive Materials
