Econ at WCHS • Taught as an interdisciplinary course since 1998 • Government Economics is a required course for Sophomores. • On block scheduling students spend ½ semester in each course (Govt./Econ.) • STEPS and Economics CC used to design course. • Business teachers teach the economics portion • 3 Business Teachers are Highly Qualified Teachers in SS-per NCLB
2004/2005 School Year • Hybrid Schedule implemented Rationale: Students in core content courses when taking KCCT • Econ and Govt will meet for 45 minutes each day all year. Econ will meet one semester and Govt the other. • Restructuring of Econ course schedule, syllabus, teaching methods • Honors & ESL Econ will be offered • New Material opportunities • NCLB
