  2. ClassScape Menu Bar Here are the features located on the ClassScape Menu Screen: • Users • Classes/Students • Assessments • Reports • Help • Resources

  3. User Menu • There are two options on this menu: • Edit Profile—Allows you to edit username and • password; edit personal information • (such as First and Last Name, e-mail • address, and phone number); • edit roles; and edit the courses that • you teach • View Users—View the list of all faculty who have • been assigned ClassScape • accounts

  4. Classes/Students Menu • Three Options: • Add Class—Allows the user to • create a new class course • Manage Class—Allows the user to edit • the enrollment of each • course, or delete a course • Add Student to School—Allows the user to add • a new student’s • information into the • system

  5. Assessments Menu • Preview/Schedule Assessment • Manage Scheduled Assessments • Create Custom Assessments • Manage Custom Assessments • Assessment Results • Score Constructed Response Items (Not available at this time—stay tuned!) • Upload Clicker Data (Not applicable at NEHS)

Classes/Students Menu:Add Student Roster to ClassScape • You are able to add a student roster into ClassScape two ways: (1) Uploading a .txt or .csv file with all of the roster information (2) Entering each student’s information manually • Student data must be entered in the following format: • Last name, First Name, Student ID, Date of Birth, Gender, Grade, • Ethnicity, Login, Password, Catagory Each line of data would contain only one comma-delimited student record.

  7. Classes/Students Menu:Manage School Students • Use the drop-down menu on the left of the screen and select the grade of the student • Select the Last Name range: (All, A-E, F-J, K-O, P-T, U-Z) OR • Search by Student’s Last Name or Student ID #

Classes/Students Menu:Manage School Students, continued • You will be provided with a list of all the students with last names that fall within the range you specified (there most likely will be several pages) • You will be able to edit or delete the profiles of any student that appears on that list • The student’s ID number will appear on the same line as their name

Classes/Students Menu:Add Student to ClassScape • If you want to view the students in a given class, click the button at the top labeled “View Class Students” • Use the drop-down menu on the next page to choose a particular teacher and class • You will be presented with a roster of all of the students in that particular class. • You will be able to edit a student’s profile or delete a student on this screen.

Classes/Students Menu:Add Student to ClassScape, continued If you don’t want to view class students… • Enter the Student ID # • Enter the First Name of the student • Enter the Last Name of the student • Select the gender of the student • Select the Grade Level • Select the Ethnicity • Use the drop-down menus to select the student’s date of birth • Enter the student’s login, password, and category • Click “Add Student” when all information is entered

  11. Classes/Students Menu:Add Existing Student(s) to a class • Select the range of letters that the student’s last name falls in: (A-E, F-J, K-O, P-T, U-Z, or “All” • Select the student’s grade level from the drop-down menu • Click the button labeled “Get Students” to continue

Classes/Students Menu:Add Existing Student(s) to a class, continued • You will be presented with a list of students whose last names fall within the range you selected • Scroll through the list and click on the name of the student that you want to add to a class • To select multiple students, press and hold the “CTRL” button and click on the students’ names • Use the drop-down menu to select the class that you want to add the student(s) to. Click the name of the class. • Click the button labeled “Add class”

Classes/Students Menu:View/Edit/Delete Student • Use the drop-down menu and browse to select a particular class • You will be presented with the roster of students who are currently enrolled in that particular class • Click the “Edit” button next to a student to change their profile, such as Student ID #, First Name, Last Name, Gender, Grade Level, Ethnicity, Date of Birth, etc. • If you make any changes, click the button labeled “Update”. To cancel changes, click “Cancel” • You are also able to delete a student from a class roster by clicking the “Delete” button next to their name

Assessments Menu:Preview/Schedule Assessment, continued • Step 1: On the “Display” drop-down menu, select the specific course that you wish to create an assessment for. • Step 2: Select an assessment from the drop- down menu. You are able to preview an assessment with or without answer keys. Click the “Next” button to continue.

Assessments Menu:Preview/Schedule Assessments, continued • Step 3: Use the available drop-down menus to determine the starting and ending dates of the assessment you wish to create, as well as the time range that you wish the assessment to last. • Step 4: Select “Yes” or “No” to each of the following questions: • Is this assessment given as a pre-assessment? • Allow students to take assessments on Saturdays • Allow students to see an assessment score • Allow students to see items answered incorrectly • upon clicking the “Grade Me” button • Allow students access to the Read-Aloud feature • Allow students to take the assessment with a • student response system (clicker)

  16. Assessments Menu:Preview/Schedule Assessments, continued • Step 5: Click “Next” to continue. Click “Start Over” if you feel you have made an error. • Step 6: Select the particular class that you want to schedule the assessment for. There will be a checkbox next to each class that is taught. Check the boxes that you would like to take the assessment. Check the box at the top of the list labeled “ALL” if all students should take the assessment you are scheduling. • Step 7: Click “Schedule” at the bottom of the screen to schedule the assessment. Click “Back” in order to go back and make changes in the scheduling of the assessment, or click “Start Over” to…start over!

  17. Assessments Menu:Preview/Schedule Assessments, continued • You will then be provided with a test code that you will provide to the students in the class. This code must be entered by the students in order for them to take the assessment.

  18. Assessments Menu:Manage Scheduled Assessments • Use the drop-down menu to select the class that you have scheduled an assessment for. Click that class when you have located it. • The next screen will show you all of the assessments that have been scheduled for that class, past, present, and future. For each assessment, it will display: • the log-in code • the completion ratio of each assessment • the teacher • the class • the assessment • the date and time it was scheduled for You are able to edit or delete each scheduled assessment as needed.

  19. Assessments Menu:Create Custom Assessment • Using the drop-down menu that is provided, select the subject and grade level for the custom assessment you would like to create. Click the “Next” button. • Type in the “draft name” that you would like to title the assessment. • On the next screen, use the drop-down menus to choose the objectives or goals that you want to assess on the assessment.

Assessments Menu:Create Custom Assessments, continued • Creating a custom assessment requires you to have a minimum of 8 questions, and a maximum of 50 questions • Each objective that you include in the assessment must have at between 4 and 6 questions that addresses it in the assessment. For example, if your assessment covers 3 objectives, you must have a minimum of 12 questions on the assessment. 3 x 4 = 12

Assessments Menu:Create Custom Assessments, continued • Once you have selected your objectives, goals, and questions, you can save the assessment so it can be accessed and modified later. • If you want to re-title the assessment, select the option “Save As”. You will be prompted to enter the new draft name of the assessment. • When you have selected the desired questions for your assessment, click the option labeled “Next”.

Assessments Menu:Create Custom Assessments, continued On the next screen, you will be presented with a breakdown of the questions you have selected for the assessment, displaying the key, difficulty levels, thinking skills, and objectives addressed by the questions. Below this portion of the screen, you will have the following options for this assessment: • Make this assessment available to all teachers in your department in • district • Make this assessment available to all teachers in your department in • your school • Schedule your assessment—Definitely select this!!! • When complete, click the button labeled “Finalize”. • At the bottom of the screen, you will be able to preview the • questions you selected as well as the answers.

Assessments Menu:Assessment Results • Select a Class Name, a Test Subject, and a Test Name • to display assessment results. • Check the “Hide Names” checkbox to display or • export the results without student names. • You will then be able to view the test results for the • assessments that you scheduled that have been • taken by students. Each student’s individual results • for each assessment will be available for review by • the instructor.

  25. Reports Menu:Class/Student Performance Report • All information that is used to create a performance report is taken from previous days of assessments. If you would like to create a report for today’s assessment, you can do so tomorrow! • Select the subject/grade from the scrolling menu on the left side of the screen. Then select either: • the goal that were covered in the assessment • the objectives that were covered in the assessment • OR the assessment itself • On the right side of the screen you will see a graph that • provides the results of the assessment that you can print • or save.

If you would like to create a report for today’s assessment, you can do so tomorrow! • Select the subject/grade from the scrolling menu on the left side of the screen. Then select either: • the goal that were covered in the assessment • the objectives that were covered in the assessment • OR the subobjective • On the right side of the screen you will see a graph that • provides the results of the assessment that you can print • or save (just like the Grade/Subject Performance Report)

If you would like to create a report for today’s assessment, you can do so tomorrow! • Select the subject/grade from the scrolling menu on the left side of the screen. Then select either: • the goal that were covered in the assessment • the objectives that were covered in the assessment • OR the assessment itself • On the right side of the screen you will see a graph that • provides the results of the assessment that you can print • or save (just like the Grade/Subject Performance Report • and the Grade/Subject Progress Report!)

Reports Menu:Student Assessment Report • On this page, make selections from the following drop-down menus: * Subject/Grade * Goal * Objective * Assessment Type • You will also need to enter the student’s ID number. • A chart displaying students’ performance according to the subject, goals, and objectives will be displayed. You will be able to export the data to an Excel spreadsheet for further analysis.

Reports Menu:Student Objective Report • Select the Subject/Grade and Assessment Type from the drop-down menus that are provided. • A grid will be generated on the page that allows the user to view all of the assessments that are associated with the subject/grade and assessment types that were selected. • You will be able to export and save the data to an Excel spreadsheet for further analysis.

Reports Menu:District Reports • Performance Data • You will be able to view performance data for your • department from all the schools in the district • Subgroup Data • Youwill be able to view performance data for • all schools in your subject area in subgroups • Goal/Objective Data • You will be able to view goal and objectives data • for the students in each selected class

  31. Help Menu • There are three main features on the • “Help” menu: • Submit a Help Request • FAQ’s • Video Tutorials • There are also links to instruction manuals available: • Read aloud manual • “Getting Started” Teacher guide • Teacher User manual • Printer-friendly Teacher User manual • There are instructions for using clickers, but they • are not currently available at NEHS.

Resources Menu • “Read Announcements” link: Click to view the latest news on this version of ClassScape • Forms Internet link to downloadable training evaluation form • Documents Direct Objectives—Links to SCoS objectives for each course Student Worksheet—Downloadable worksheet for students to answer practice questions Newsletter—Link to most recent ClassScape newsletter • Presentations Downloadable PowerPoint presentation on ClassScape • Other Websites Item Development; Link to NC Department of Public Instruction; CUACS link (Center for Urban Affairs and Community Services)
